Get your students spending time outside.
Studies have shown that students who spend time learning outdoors experience increases in academic performance, improvements in attitudes about learning and school, and improved behavior.
Further, time spent outside has been shown to improve students’ focus and cognitive abilities, both directly and through improvements in their sleep patterns and decreases in their stress levels.
We’re here to make it easier for you.
In our work to get children (and adults) to get off their screens and spend more time in the real world with real people, we’ve found that it isn’t enough to just say, “Don’t spend so much time on your screens. Spend more time outside.”
There has to be something to do instead. We created prompts to answer the question of, “Okay, I’m off my screen. Now what?”
To encourage spending time outside daily becoming a habit, we’ve also created an adventure map students can follow along with as they spend time outside each day for the first month.
Two options
-
Print out a copy of the 31 day adventure map for each of your students.
Have them write their names at the top.
During a set time, have your students complete the daily prompt.

FAQs
-
If you haven’t broached the topic of screens with your students’ parents yet, you may be surprised at the eagerness with which they’ll hear your ideas about how to minimize screen time and get their kids to spend more time outside.
-
Yes and no. There is no upper limit. The prompts can be modified to be workable for children under the age of 5, but for the most part, they’re enjoyable for people of all ages.
