The program deals with themes of contemporaray and historical cities: an image of a city as a representation of a society that defines its problems, qualities, fields for investments. Lectures will present various ways of observing and (possibly) mapping a city in order to understand its heritage and contemporary relevance. Combining emotional and scientific observation of a place will be one of the tasks of the project. The observations will include major and ephemeral parts of the city, as well as visits to several museal collections. Students will meet artists, gallerists and art theorists that live and work in Florence.
The program of lectures and workshops is part of events coordinated by the gallery La Corte Arte Contemporanea in occasion of the anniversary of Galileo Galilei, marked by numerous exhibitions in Florence.

A VERY SPECIAL OUTSIDE PROGRAM
April 2 - 9, 2008.
An inititative for an exchange program dedicatd to people with special needs and students of drammatic arts [info]
As part of the Outside exchange programs, the Council for Public Education in Florence will host a group of 8 persons with special needs, social assistants from Belgrade's association "Stari grad", as well as a group of students and a professor of drammatic arts. This visit is a result of a collaboration initiated in Belgrade in 2007, when over 30 Florentine students participated in a workshop held at the Association for support of persons with special needs and the Cultural center "Stari grad". Several workshops and meetings will be organized during their visit to Florence. Guests from Belgrade will learn about methods of integration practiced in schools, strategies of autonomy and cultural and artistic comunication related to the issues of mental disability.
Some of the Florentine partners in this project are: Istituto d'arte di Porta Romana, Teatro Isole Comprese, cultural associations Sipario and Fili d'erba.
The goal of this visit is to open a dialogue on further collaboration between Belgrade and Florence, in the field of integration and autonomy of people with special needs through art education and theater projects. [info] [Serbian text]
